Dear <<First Name>>,

Thank you for your interest in the Consumer Data Right (CDR). Here are some recent developments.

Assurance strategy

The ACCC has published its CDR assurance strategy for the banking sector.

The CDR assurance strategy for the banking sector provides the framework for understanding the ACCC’s testing and assurance scope and approach, in preparation for launch in February 2020. This includes the test phases and types of assurance to be performed, and proposed schedule, including any assumptions and test dependencies.

Selection of data recipients for CDR testing and accreditation

On Friday 23 August the ACCC invited expressions of interest from parties interested in becoming accredited data recipients and participating in CDR testing based on the CDR assurance strategy.

Interested parties are required to complete the survey available on the ACCC’s consultation hub. The survey will close on 6 September. Further information on the process is also available in the Consumer data right newsletter published 23 August.

AEMO gateway model the preferred data access model in energy

We have also released a position paper setting out the Australian Energy Market Operator gateway model as our preferred data access model for the CDR in the energy sector.

Adoption of the gateway model will allow us to continue our work in developing the appropriate authorisation and authentication models for the energy sector. It will also directly influence the development of the CDR rules and ACCC Register. We will consult with stakeholders on these issues.

The ACCC will continue to assist the Treasury with its work on determining the scope and content of the initial designation instrument for the energy sector and the designation of a gateway. The Treasury are currently consulting on the energy datasets that will be subject to the CDR.

Kind regards,
